The New Nikon Full Frame SLR
Nikon has a huge release today The New Nikon Full Frame. The FX-size sensor whose height is only 0.1mm shy of 36×24mm film frame. Such sensors mean camera lenses behave optically as they do on film SLRs and that sensor pixels can be made larger and more sensitive. The D3 isn’t the Nikon’s only news. The company also announced the $1,800, 12.3-megapixel D300, which like its D200 predecessor, uses a smaller DX-size sensor. If the D3 is an answer to Canon’s 1Ds Mark III, the D300 is an answer to another Canon model announced Monday, the $1,300 EOS 40D. As far as lenses Nikon also announced five new high-end lenses that the full-frame sensor, all due in November: a $1,800 14-24mm F/2.8 zoom and $1,700 24-70mm F/2.8 zoom, a $8,800 F/2.8 400mm fixed telephoto, a $7,900 500mm F/4 fixed telephoto and a $9,500 F/4 600mm fixed telephoto. This could be the end of 35 mm cameras…
Here is a photo of the new Nikon Click on this photo to enlarge.

So what this means for any of you up and coming photographers out there you can get this full frame camera for 5000 instead of 9-10 for the canon and full frame is a huge step makes the images look more amazing and when you do large prints it comes in handy trust me on that… What do you shoot on Canon or Nikon?

Canon vs. nikon
personally I enjoy using the canons I have, there are many customizable options … I first started out on the canon digital rebel XT and moved up to the 20D and now i’m at the 30D. I couldn’t really ask for a better result.
I’ve played with a Nikon D50 … and found it was nikons slightly slower model to the rebel XT.
I’m a canon girl

canon more bang for your buck
August 24th, 2007 at 4:32 pm
i agree with ‘niko’ becuase, canon isnt a bad camera, i had a 35 mm rebal and i loved that thing. it was a good camera. and you do get mroe bang for your buck. but canon has some sweet tricks up its sleeves
August 24th, 2007 at 4:33 pm
Actually, I’m in the market for my first (yes, you heard right) digital camera, but this is way out of my range! Looks great, though.
I’m glad you get to live your dream, Tyler. You’re a good guy.
Have a terrific weekend!

August 24th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
Nikon hides behind their name to up their prices – I’ve had a Nikon SLR that was stolen and bought a similar model Olympus for about a grand less that has all the same features and more mega pixels. There is no denying that Nikons DO give you a different type of “look” to your photo, but if you know how to utilize lighting and photoshop there’s no reason to pay out of your ass for one.
Basic economics says every other major player in the digital SLR field will have the same features for less within a year; I’d wait and see

Do you shoot on Canon or Nikon?
I’m a Nikonist who doesn’t laugh with Canonists because of their choice. These days companys can’t afford to make crap material. I went for Nikon because my brother had one, and now I have his lenses (just don’t inform him).
Film or digital?
Digital is my game, but I’ve gotten myself an older Nikon-film, just to “learn” more about myself as photographer (well, wannabe).
Would you like to have the new Nikon?
. I’ll try to get my hands on the 300, but I need a good excuse.
If someone gives it sure
How was your day?
It’s 1:40 AM, I spend 73,24% of this day in bar, so I can’t complain.
Do you like Brendan Fehr?
Who, or right, the guy in the photo…
Well, don’t know him, so I don’t “dislike” him.
August 24th, 2007 at 4:41 pm
canon for sure
August 24th, 2007 at 4:43 pm
I shoot with Canon. Canon just sounds like a name I’m comfortable with. A lot of my favorite photographers use Canon.
Digital!
August 24th, 2007 at 4:46 pm
i shoot film and digital and use canon products. but i dont dislike nikon, just my lenses are able to transfer between both my slrs with ease.
August 24th, 2007 at 4:48 pm

August 24th, 2007 at 4:48 pm
thank you so much Joy what are you thinking about getting?
August 24th, 2007 at 4:49 pm

August 24th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
I feel comfortable with my Nikon, but for the most part I don’t think it matters. I have some film Canons I like as well, and lomography (holga) cameras as well… I also have a Pentax. I use a different one everyday.

tyler, do you know of a photographer named ’sara white’ ?
August 24th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
Canon vs Nikon…
I personally like the Canon 5D full frame vs this new Nikon. I shoot with the 30D right now and am looking to upgrade to full frame. I have used some nikons and haven’t really liked the way they feel.
Canon has the best lenses (L Series) and thats all I have to say. I just picked up the 16-35mm f/2.8 and it is SICK!
My day is going well, thanks for asking.

I shoot Canon for studio, and Nikon for red carpet. When you can’t control your light source or have mixed lighting, I think Nikon beats Canon. Although I think Nikon’s pre-set white balance needs some tweaking. I have more consistent exposures at red carpet events with my D200.
I’d be interested in seeing how the newer Nikon models stack up against Canon. I love my 5D in the studio. It’s lightweight, and unless you’re shooting billboards, 12 megapixels is plenty!
When it really comes down to it though, I think whatever system you choose… learn it, know it, use it. Some people will argue all day with me, but it’s not really that important what you shoot with. If you know your gear, and know it’s strengths and weaknesses, you can shoot great photos with just about any camera. After all, most “photographers” today Photoshop the hell out of their photos anyway!
August 24th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
nope
August 24th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
will you go to the 5d rather then the 1ds mark2?

Tyler is gonna have a nice Christmas!
Have you heard about John Singleton’s accident?
August 24th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
My day was good…
The new NIKON is AMAZING! I really really really want that camera!
I had a canon for a while, till I fell off the wall and broke the lens…suck!
I shoot both film and digital…I like digital a little better, but film is fun.
I’m at a bit of a stand between Nikon and Canon. They both have their posotives and negatives.
How was your day Tyler?
August 25th, 2007 at 1:35 am
digital i shoot canon. i really want a full frame camera. i read about the 1d and 40d a few days ago, wish i had money for a mark series camera.
film nikon n70, it was given to me for free w/ two lens but i prefer canon.
don’t you shoot canon?
August 25th, 2007 at 10:18 am
I want that nikon.
that is my dream one =]
August 28th, 2007 at 5:46 am
Oddly enough, you can spend half the price of the D3 and get a 5D. Unless you need to shoot a movie, in which case the D3’s 9 fps.
September 13th, 2007 at 9:46 pm
