A Gallery was offered a show by The Smithfield Gallery ( www.thesmithfieldgallery.com ) who are a few minutes’ walk from the heart of the planet’s Stock Exchange, where traders deal second to second in billions of pounds, entire fortunes are made and lost on a whim, where you have to be twenty years ahead of the game to stay alive day to day.
In the City’s hundred storey shiny glass towers every trader is on a quest for the most valuable commodity in the City, that commodity which, if he has it, he has the edge to survive; if he doesn’t, he hasn’t a hope … the quest for knowledge.
A Gallery and The Smithfield Gallery decided to give the City knowledge of a different kind, knowledge of Art Futures.
Art - the only product that routinely performs like Microsoft shares; where a £500 investment in a Hockney, fresh out of his Masters degree, matures to £2.5m in 40 years.
Art - the ultimate game; how do you know if the 5 marks of black charcoal on your right,… or the ones on your left, will be valued at £10m in five years, or not worth the paper they were drawn on?
Only through knowledge.

London Amazes me. I have only been twice..because it costs lots to go and stay there even though I live in the UK..the last time I went it was all expenses paid by work. I did like a whirlwind tour of the main things and ate in china town :]

i live up on the east coast so london is about 4 hours away by train… i just hope i can get the day off work to travel down there… would love to be able to go see your work.
