  46. 46 Azure Eyes Says:

This photo just makes me melt. The juxtaposition between the baby and the gas mask is very thought provoking. The baby is so sweet and innocent, and then the gas mask is a symbol of all the destruction and horror in the world. And all the while, the curious and innocent baby has no idea what the gas mask signifies, and plays with it as if it is any other toy to be played with. I know I’m going on a rant here, but it really makes you think: what kind of world will this child have to live in when she grows up? Will the air be so polluted that everyone will have to wear masks like these? Will chemical and biological warfare force people to wear them? There’s just so much that could be read into this photo. And no–I don’t do drugs.

  51. 51 Tedd Says:

when that baby grows up its going to be a killer

  52. 52 Tedd Says:

you can tell by the crazy look in its eyes

  53. 53 Courtney Hacker Says:

Oh Tyler. What is it with the shock factor loaded images? : )
First of all, let me just say that Azure Eyes’ comment is more of what should be on this blog. It’s complimentary and dissecting trying to make an access point into the content of the work. Thinking is good.

But all the flattery is fun, I guess.
I’m going to take the possibilities of this image in a different direction than AZURE EYES, in order to just poke at what’s going on.

Perhaps this tiny tot knows something we don’t. Foreshadowing? Where does evil dwell? Evil in the form of corrupt scientific studies. She is the scientist that will create a tragedy. She’s prepared with her gas mask, follow her lead or suffer. She’s not innocent, she’s a femme fatale and she will bring those she opposes (whoever that may be) to the end of their ropes.
This child is a genius, and this is a mere foreshadowing of much more complex story of a future development.
Gas masks are usually associated with poison and polluted oxygen toxicity…is that a blonde haired blue eyed baby? Are you making a reference to WWII Nazi Idealism?
Babies sometimes represent the future…its easy to see why. What is she going to do? I’m kind of scared.
Hell, maybe she’s not a bad guy.
    Perhaps she’ll actually help mankind.
These guesses are from an audience perspective…and maybe adds more layers to the original intent.

I’m always interested in your neutral and sterile environment. It makes it feel so labratory…
Crazy look in the eyes indeed…
