Destroy the Memories

Destroy the Memories… For me this task is impossible I remember everything down to the craziest details to say I have a photographic memory would be an understatement and even bad memories are worth keeping as long as you learn from them! Each piece of this photo has a direct meaning in my life there is a story behind each and every cracked broken or cut out object in it. The broken Camera or the 8 photos used as the words each one of them all there own day there own story and all very special to me…. If you can figure out the 8 photos I will be very impressed especially since 2 of them are unreleased, Some people hate to share there personal life I say if its not personal why do it, for me in my life with my friends NOTHING IS TO PERSONAL!

destroy the memories

Whats yours?

  • Karen Brown

  • dinot

    Amazing print!

    Awesome execution!

    Really drives the point:)

  • StephJP

I wouldn’t want to forget anything – it’d be like erasing a part of my personality.

I like the picture you used to cut out the “O” in “memories”. Go Tyler!

i see…. scrabble? i don’t think i would destroy any memories, not even the bad ones. and my song of the day is hold it in by jukebox the ghost

you should put in a piece of those jeans you wore for 77 days and kept in the freezer! hahaha.

the scrabble is the only thing i can guess. i’m trying to figure out the rest but it’s hard. :(

  • Julie

    Love it, Tyler!

How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!

  • Erin Navy Red

There are definitely some memories I would destroy… You know, Tyler, out of all the photos of yours I’ve seen, I connect with this one the most. The worst part for me of having a great memory, is that when I remember the bad memories, the emotions of that time come flooding right back, and I feel as if I’m reliving it. I hate being re-saddened by the same stuff, even if those times have long since past…

  • tyler

thats amazing! this one effects you the most?

  • alison

i have destroyed many a photo in my time, it’s always nice to chop someone’s head off ;)

  • PaintByLetters

I’ve burned memories and shredded others. Art (and life) wouldn’t mean much if it were all impersonal. The recent photos have given voice to things a lot of people relate to…still images yet moving pictures
(Not a song of the day, but I heard “Santeria” while cruising in a big white car earlier and the “punk ass” line made me happier than it should.)

  • tyler

PaintByLetters thank you and well said

None.I belive in that everything that happens, happens for a reason..even cruel stuff..even if we can’t get the reason.
And everything good or bad is part of my life and my personality..I think its important to be the way it is….

    But it’s a real good photograph,with a strong statement.:-)Like it.

  • Erin Navy Red

Yeah, its does, Tyler. That’s not to say I haven’t liked your other photos, but I connect with this one the most.

  • jason

this is freakin awesome. all the different colors, all the hidden images, its crazy to look at. My song of the day is “Take it Easy (Love Nothing)” by Bright Eyes. Keep up the great work!

  • Donny

Amazing photo, amazing song of the day, copious amounts of amazingness

  • Kelly

I’ve cut up plenty of pictures but I never thought of making art out of it. I love the way you think ;)

  • Alex

    my new fave

  • Paula

I would destroy nothing, I have no regrets. I wouldn’t mind breaking a camera though that sounds like fun!

Amazing photo like usual ! Ones with text are one of my favorite.
And there are really almost memories i would destroy, specially 2 ou 3.
I follow your website since a little time now, I think you used 2 scrabble photos, E and O from MEMORIES are the girls-kissing photo and maybe the T of THE, one which make the R from DESTROY, H from THE and S from MEMORIES are certainly the same photo but I don’t know it lol.
Well for the rest, another time, I go to sleep.
Bonne soirée pour toi :) .

  • Gina

    love it!!!

I don’t know if I would destroy any of my memories, Tyler- even the harrowing ones have taught me things. I recently found the video cassette of Star Trek episodes I’d loaned to my friends who died on Pan-Am Flight 103 -21 years ago yesterday. It was returned to me by the people who closed their home on our European Air Force base. I’ve gotten rid of all my videocassettes- except for that one.

I have a set of happy memories that I alternately cling to and wish to forget. They torment me with their blissful happiness and the knowledge that it is a time long gone by. I think what I really need is a time machine ….. The rest of my memories … even the bad ones … have made me what I am today so I would leave them as is.

  • Brenda B

Without the bad memories we wouldn’t learn how to deal with life. I wouldn’t destroy any.

  • monica

Never destroy a memory. Someday memories may be all you have left. Hold tight to those little things to look back on that push you forward through it all. Some are worth a thousand smiles while others will remain lessons in life.

Sorry posted this on the wrong pic. Not sure how I managed that but…
Word Pictures: Love is a lie, Revenge, Red Heels, Scrabble, Girls in Wigs, and Love is a Lie
I have mega-memory, it is like impossible to forget things. Usually this is a good thing but it definately has its down sides. I dont think I would destroy any memories though, there is so much I have learned from even the painful memories. It becomes an issue of learning from history so you dont repeat it.
