If you don’t want art made about you don’t date an artist! When something crazy happens use it embrace it don’t get mad at it make something out of it! This was an amazing video to make Matt and Alessandra are insanely talented, while we were filming this there was a very intense choking scene that I may or may not have choked Mr. Dallas unconscious while filming! OMG Tyler…that is one intense snapshot of love, pain and jealousy. I love the mini-movie approach. Does putting yourself into the shot make it more personal for you? There were some pretty uncomfortable scenes, but none were out of place in the narrative. Great music choice too. A+ x

At first it felt like your character was dead, and a ghost watching from the periphery, and then you started choking Matt’s character, and I nearly started crying. The intensity in your face and body in this, Tyler, was astounding, so much pent of rage and passion. Loved it. Sometimes you really do feel like choking the life out of the people who disregard you, you’re lucky you have this outlet to let it come to fruition in some way.

Oh, my other reaction was “Fuuuuuuck!”

Great song, yes I have been cheated on, probably more times than I know. Yes I have cheated, probably more times than I’d care to remember. This video reminds me how fucked up people are to each other cause they’re scared to be honest. Oh well part of life I guess.

EVER since you posted about having a new video come out i’ve been so crazy with anticipation. The video was Amazing. The raw emotion you show captures not only what a person wants to do when a significant other cheats but just that feeling of quiet betrayal that you can’t quite put into words. You’ve somehow shown it though, by putting it into this wonderful piece of art. My favorite part was where you where sitting at the table with your head down for most of the shot and then you suddenly look up right as the music hits the note “alone”. All of your video portraits and photos just scrape away the facades we all hide behind, and shove the reality of life at its truest and rawest moments in the viewers face. Brilliant. thanks for sharing your art…makes my day.

Wow I just love the video, I was mesmerized by it, and I just sat and watched it over and over again. It was great because really, jealousy is something that we all have felt at some point in our lives. I also loved how Alessandra or whoever she represents, seemed beautiful and terrible all at the same time. It’s as if she’s done this awful thing, but you still love her, so you imagine taking out your anger on the man she’s cheating with…or you actually do. I also loved how when you were sitting at the table and before Alessandra layed on it you could see her reflection behind you, and then you could see it at the end but she never appeared…as if she were fading away. All in all I love all of your work, but this was especially wonderful, so much to figure out and try to perceive. Also just want to say your proving to be a huge inspiration to me in my photography class so thanks for sharing your beautiful art.

You really should be a god.I have no idea how anyone else can re create such an emotional concept that shoots the the roof with intensity,sadness,betrayal and is overall beautiful right off the bat. The use of music also goes perfectly with the video. This is one of the most emotional master peices ive ever watched. Well done i mean that..just mind blowingly amazing Tyler.

I love this. You’ve really captured the essence of self-portraiture without vanity to get across an emotion. It reminded me quite a bit of when something similar happened to me, though I think sometimes the reaction is different from a female perspective. I like seeing it this way though. You really showcased the masculine side of things and I really love that. All the images are beautiful in a haunting way. I think even if you haven’t been cheated on, you can still understand the anger and hurt. It is portrayed so strongly through the whole piece.

I feel so grateful to be aware of your work. And grateful at how prolific you are. You are blowing up into such a major talent. The *editing* work on this piece alone is so high, so advanced. The whole piece, just POWERFUL as hell. Whoa. Oh, and the pace ~ Pitch perfect.

One last thing: I *love* that you are putting yourself in front of the camera both with still, and video. Your performance skills in front of the camera are growing, in addition to your “performances” behind it – for you have always been so very present in any of the images you have created. Compare your performance in this film, to say, the one you did with The Stormtrooper. Range, man, range!

MAD GENIUS! I had to wait 24 hrs to see this. pins n needles mr shields. did not disappoint! this was very intense and moving and very relatable. I think every one has been cheated on. Fantastic… as always of course, but you have a nasty habit of surpassing yourself. I’m not saying stop… I’m saying please try to stop blowing my mind so often- I need it.

Also… you are bound to choke him unconscious if you 1) asphyxiate him… and 2) put considerable pressure on his internal / external carotid arteries!! Oh my. That was a beautiful moment.

Can’t help but think that it is an inevitable culmination; resulting from pent up frustration; and a violent struggle- in an emotional and physical sense. Your use of black and white was a nice addition to the effect.

Oh Tyler… I don’t think words in any language could entirely describe how intense, how crude, how accurate and also how beautiful this video here is. I’m still breathless and in awe at your work, after watching it three times in a row because as much as it makes your heart twist with rage and hurt, you can’t stop watching it. I don’t know how you do it, you must be a genius, but you got me feeling like the main guy every second of this video, and I have never been in that situation to begin with! But I felt the anger, the pain, the sadness, the loneliness and the utter madness. Oh, and the scene at the table, that was pure genius, how you depict there so perfectly the insanity of not being able to get the betrayal out of your head, and you used the “all you need is pain” table, which makes it even more awesome and heartbreaking… You, Mr.Shields, are a genius. Congratulations on another wonderful piece of art!
