Submerged

Submerged is Tyler Shields’ groundbreaking underwater series, the result of months of preparation and discipline. Shields trained himself to hold his breath for over six minutes at a time, allowing him to capture his subjects fully immersed without the interruption of surfacing. The photographs carry an ethereal quality, figures suspended in weightlessness, fabrics and movement transformed by the water’s resistance.
